IntraDiscal ElectroThermal (IDET)

IntraDiscal ElectroThermal- is a minimally invasive form of surgery developed over the last few years for patients who suffer from lower back pain caused by certain types of disc problems.

How it works:

The process consists of insertion into the affected disc of a hollow needle. Through that needle a heating wire is passed; once this has reached the disc, the wire is heated to 90°C for approximately fifteen minutes. The heat thickens the collagen fibers that make up the disc wall which seals any ruptures or tears in the disc wall. Tiny nerve endings are cauterized which can make the area less sensitive to pain.

Is IDET for you?
